The Inspiring Journey of Jubaer Talukdar: From Naval Architecture to Masterful Filmmaking

Jubaer Talukdar is a beacon of inspiration in a world where creativity often sits in the back seat to conventional career paths. His journey from Naval Architecture to a degree from one of the most prestigious institutions in Bangladesh, BUET, to a career as an established filmmaker, content creator, and entrepreneur is proof of the same power of passion and perseverance.

A Surprising Start: From Engineering to Filmmaking

It sure takes life, though, to take Jubaer on an unexpected route. Though to have become an engineer, he earned his degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) through this path; deep down, he knew that this was not his destination.

He was given a camera as a gift for academic excellence, and, during his freshman year at BUET, Jubaer started documenting events on campus as well as some personal memories. What started out as a pastime grew into something more of a zeal for visual storytelling.

“In 2015, I was just a freshman fascinated by the vibrant life at BUET. I picked up my camera and started documenting everything that seemed interesting,” Jubaer recalls. “This hobby slowly turned into a passion, and eventually, I realized that filmmaking was what I truly wanted to do.”

The Self-Taught Filmmaker

Unlike several people who undergo some courses in photography and videography, Jubaer chose to go the other way around. He learned by himself the camera stuff, lighting, and editing through countless hours of tutorials on YouTube and through experimentation. His determination and self-discipline paid off because soon enough, people really started to notice his work.

“My first significant project was a music video for the renowned artist Tahsan Khan,” Jubaer shares. “At the time, I was a newcomer with little experience, and the stakes were high. But the result exceeded my expectations, and even Tahsan himself praised my work.”

Having provided an impetus to push ahead commercially, the initiative transformed and opened new doors for Jubaer. His portfolio diversified, capturing collaborations with national and international brands such as Asus, Samsung, Grameenphone, TikTok, SmallRig, Airtel, and Envato Elements. Continue producing high quality, minimal resource content while completely setting him apart from the industry.

Entrepreneurship: The Birth of Monochrome

Monochrome Limited, a firm that concentrates on producing videos that are thoroughly beautiful and touch people emotionally, was founded in unison with Jubaer in 2019. Monochrome is where he has given a leadership direction and collaborated with over 30 big clients such as Walton, BAT, ShopUp, and InterContinental.

“Our goal at Monochrome is to produce content that not only meets but exceeds client expectations,” Jubaer explains. “Seeing our clients satisfied with the final product is the ultimate reward and motivates us to continue pushing forward.”

The success of monochrome is an index of the efforts Jubaer has exerted in improving his artistry and, above all, the quality of his work in every project endeavor.

Achievements and Accolades

Jubaer’s work hasn’t gone unnoticed. Over these years, he has won some prestigious awards like:

Channel i Media Award for Best Edutainment Content Creator

Banglalink Nextuber Award for Aspiring Content Creator

Honorable Mention for Content Creation at Marvel – Be You

These awards, as such, speak volumes about his skill and creativity and impact in the industry.

A Mentor and Guide

A role model for many aspiring souls, Jubaer’s journey as a self-taught expert to an acclaimed content creator has inspired a lot. Recognizing the absence of resources for aspirant filmmakers, he started making tutorial videos on YouTube. For the sake of empowering less privileged aspirants who could not afford a high-end equipment set or had to shoot using a smartphone, he started the tutorial videos for aspiring filmmakers.

“I realized that most tutorials online were focused on expensive gear,” Jubaer says. “I wanted to show people that they could create amazing content with whatever resources they had.”

Balancing Life and Love: A Partnership with Sofayra Sadeka

When there stands a successful individual, his supportive partner stands behind; for Jubaer, that person is Sofayra Sadeka, who hails from Bangladesh as an Industrial and Production Engineer. Their relationship is fully founded on mutual respect and aspirations, as well as a love for exploration.

The couple travels the globe, taking the adventure with them and creating memories. Sofayra’s role in Jubaer’s life is more than supportive and encouraging. It is a beautiful example of how love and teamwork can drive one’s personal and professional growth.

A Vision for the Future

Though Jubaer presides over commercial productions, he also nurtures a budding desire for stepping into the realm of feature film direction someday. However, he believes it easier said than done. Patience waits for the time when that moment will arrive.

“I’m not rushing into personal projects like a feature film just yet,” he says. “For now, I’m focused on growing Monochrome and continuing to deliver exceptional content. But when the time is right, I hope to create something truly special.”
